ReAgent manufactures and supplies Acetic Acid in both pure forms (referred to as Glacial Acetic Acid, containing no water) or in dilute solutions. We supply in quantities ranging from small packs up to 1000L Intermediate Bulk Containers. We supply a number of different grades of product – LRG (Laboratory Grade), suitable for the majority of applications, AR (Analytical Reagent Grade), for analytical purposes, technical grades and so on. We can also provide chemical blends involving acetic acid CH3COOH, such as acetic acid and chloroform, which are commonly used for oil testing purposes.

Acetic acid is a corrosive substance and should be handled carefully. Please consult the Material Safety Data Sheet before handling CH3COOH.  It also emits a pungent smell, which smells like vinegar – vinegar is actually a dilute form of acetic acid, about one twentieth of the strength of the pure solution. Where vinegar is used for pickling purposes, a stronger concentration may be required, although please note that none of our products are suitable for human consumption unless described as such.

It should be noted that acetic acid has a relatively high freezing point – 16.7 Degrees Celsius, so it should be stored above this. Ideally, like at ReAgent, CH3COOH would be stored inside warm cupboards. If the product does freeze, it will contract, which can potentially damage packaging, the hazard being when the product thaws again. It is bad practice to store this product outdoors.
