Acetic Aid is classified as a Corrosive substance and should be handled with care.  Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before handling CH3COOH.   Acetic Acid emits a pungent odour which smells like vinegar.  Indeed, vinegar is actually a dilute form of Acetic Acid, at about one twentieth of the strength of the pure solution.  However, we would ask you to note that none of our products is suitable for human consumption unless described as such.

Acetic Acid has a relatively high freezing point of 16.7 Degrees Celsius and this should be borne in mind when storing the material.  At ReAgent, we keep our Acetic Acid CH3COOH stored inside warm cupboards to prevent the material from freezing.  If allowed to freeze, Acetic Acid will contract and this can cause damage to the packaging materials used.  This can present a potential hazard when the product thaws again.  Acetic Acid should always be stored inside in the UK to prevent the potential hazard of freezing.
