Should you require any further information on the caustic soda supplied by ReAgent, please:
Caustic soda is most often manufactured in a process involving a strong solution of brine, which produces chlorine and caustic. It is also possible to manufacture caustic soda from common salt through a number of different processes. Caustic is also a bi-product of chlorine manufacture.
White, highly deliquescent caustic substrate is commonly marketed as 70 twaddle liquor, which is a 32% w/w solution. This is because the solution has a lower freezing point than the 100 twaddle liquor. 100 twaddle liquor equates to a 47% w/w solution. ReAgent supplies caustic soda both of these strength, not to mention many strengths and grades.
If the end user is purchasing higher strength caustic soda, it is important to have the facility to store the product safely, ideally indoors and/or in a heated area. If the product is allowed to freeze, it expands, which can in extreme situations burst containers. Due to the hazardous nature of this product, this is potentially quite dangerous. On a more practical level, allowing caustic soda to freeze is most inconvenient – effort is then required to thaw the product, for example, by wrapping the container in a heating jacket. It can also cause delays to the application of the product, which would be of particular inconvenience for a manufacturing company with delivery deadlines to meet.
