Everything we supply is in line with our ISO 9001:2000 approved Quality Management System. Higher concentrations of Sodium Hypochlorite can be quite corrosive and should be handled in a responsible manner. Ordinary household bleach is approximately 5% Sodium Hypochlorite NaClO. Sodium Hypochlorite is perhaps more commonly known as bleach. NaClO might also be called NaOCl, Sodium Hypochlorite Solution and Sodium Chloride Oxide. In household bleach, other chemicals are usually added to give the product a particular odour or coloration. Thickeners are also used to give viscosity. Just like the household application, Sodium Hypochlorite is used on a commercial scale for disinfecting and cleaning. This is due to its’ ability to kill germs. It is also used for water treatment. Can you recall the smell of chlorine in a swimming pool? That smell is actually from Sodium Hypochlorite. Chlorine in its natural state (gas) cannot be practically added to swimming pool water, so a solution of chlorine dissolved in water and Sodium Hydroxide is created, which can then be used to chlorinate the water. This chemical solution is slightly alkaline. Sodium Hypochlorite NaClO solution is produced on an enormous scale throughout the world. It is a byproduct of chlorine manufacture.
