At ReAgent, we are dedicated in reducing our impact on the environment as much as possible. That’s why our new factory has eco-friendly features incorporated into its design to help reduce our carbon footprint.

ReAgent’s new premises has been fitted with LED lights throughout. This is much more eco-friendly in terms of electricity usage and environmental impact.
There are many advantages that LED lights have in the workplace and household. The annual energy consumption of LED lights is approximately 30 times lower than alternative bulbs, and they also consume less power per unit of light emitted. In fact, a single LED bulb has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by half a ton. Other benefits of LED lights include:
- Directional Lighting: LEDs reduce the need for reflectors and diffusers by emitting light in a specific direction. This is an efficient solution for things like task lighting.
- Heat: Most bulbs generate light by creating heat. With incandescent bulbs, 90% of their energy is released as heat. LED lights are more efficient as they emit almost no heat.
- Lifespan: LED lights can last for approximately 25,000 hours. This is the equivalent of running 24/7 for nearly 3 years, and is also 25 times longer than traditional light bulbs.
- Mercury Pollution: Traditional light bulbs have a higher mercury footprint than LEDs, which contain and release no mercury. This means that LED lights have a much smaller impact on the environment.
PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors behave as motion detectors by measuring the infrared radiation being emitted from objects and people. This way, a PIR is able to sense movement which causes it to turn on – or off – automatically.
By incorporating PIR and LED lights, we are ensuring that our electricity usage, and therefore environmental impact is minimised as much as possible.
The new premises also features destratification fans for a more eco-friendly heating system. Destratification fans are used to mix the air in a building in order to eliminate stratified layers.
Stratified layers occur when the sinking of cooler, denser air is met with the rising of warmer, thinner air. This results in a temperature gradient which, in the case of buildings with high ceilings, can be quite extreme. This means that while the top of a unit may be very warm, the working space below may actually be very cold. Heating in this way can be costly and inefficient.
Destratification fans keep the temperature of a building constant by distributing the heat evenly, thus removing any stratified layers. This will help to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing our gas usage as the effectiveness of heaters will dramatically improve.
Modulating Heating Control
As well as destratification fans, modulating heating control will also be included in our new premises in order to facilitate efficiency and comfort. Rather than the more common on-off control signal, a modulating control ranges from 0% to 100%. This allows it to keep the temperature constant and accurate.
It also adjusts the heat according to the surrounding temperature. If it is very warm, for example, the heating will never reach 100%. This results in a very precise and constant temperature.
Advantages of modulating heating control include:
- Constant temperature
- Low flow rate with low pumping costs
- Low energy losses
- High energy efficiency
- Increased comfort levels
Modified Drainage System
When working with chemicals, it is important to be prepared for any accidents that may occur. In terms of the environment, the main hazard to safeguard against is a chemical spill.
Our new premises includes an outdoor drainage system that has been modified to protect the surrounding environment from any potential spillages. This is achieved by an automatic detection system that uses a pH probe to prevent any hazardous substance from leaving our site.
If a material is spilt, it will pass through the pH probe before entering the main drainage system. If the chemical is hazardous, the probe will detect this and immediately shut off the drains. Our drains then behave like a bund, collecting the spilt materials which we can eventually pump out. This eliminates any possibility of hazardous substances entering main drainage systems and polluting the environment.
Our drains have the capacity to contain 6.5 tonnes of product. This is more than we would ever be able to spill at once since we only store chemicals in batches of 1,000L IBCs. Therefore, if an entire IBC spilt, the drains would be more than capable of coping with the quantity, even in periods of rain.
Manual activation points have also been fitted all around the new building. This allows someone to instantly hit an activation button as soon as something is dropped. This way, the drains would be shut off before the spillage has a chance to reach the pH probe.
While these are some of the most prominent eco-friendly features our new facility boasts, they are not a comprehensive list.
We are not only implementing eco-friendly features to our factory, but also eco-friendly goals to our business. One of our main objectives for the near future is to reduce waste in order to maintain the integrity of the environment and to become as efficient as possible.
