ReAgent recently made the decision to discontinue our practice of shipping goods on recycled wooden pallets and instead to send our products on new wooden pallets. We understand the importance of recycling to reduce negative environmental impact, however, due to the hazardous nature of some of the products we ship, we cannot compromise safety when transporting and storing goods. The switch to new pallets really was the best option.
In this post:
New Wooden Pallets
As part of our commitment to delivering to multiple industries where product safety and cleanliness is a priority, we’ve opted to buy new pallets to ship all of our goods out on, instead of using second-hand pallets.
We now use two types of pallets:
Euro Pallets (Or E Pallets)
Euro Pallets are our standard size (800x1200x500) and are the type we use for the majority of our products. All of our Euro Pallets contain the EPAL (European Pallet Association) quality mark, which shows that they have been quality-approved. They are regularly checked to ensure they conform to strict quality controls and ever-increasing expectations.
These slightly larger pallets come in at a dimension of 1150x1150x150. They are heat-treated and can carry weights of up to 1000kg, despite only weighing 15kg themselves. This type of pallet is only used on particular jobs where they are specifically required or requested.
There happen to be a wide range of advantages that result from the simple change to using new pallets. During the transportation process, the new wooden pallets ensure that all our loads are transported safely. Safety is improved because new pallets are sturdier, minimising pallet breakages in transport and lowering the risk of exposing dangerous chemicals to the courier or customer.
Safety is at the height of importance and our customers need to be confident that our pallets are secure and products are fully protected. By stopping the use of recycled pallets, we are minimising packaging contamination to our products from pallet residues.
Finally, new pallets guarantee stable storage and offer proof that we are meeting the standards of quality that have been set, as we aim to do with all aspects of our manufacturing.
