On 4th May 2015, ReAgent visited the BLOODHOUND workshop in Avonmouth, Bristol. ReAgent is a Product Sponsor of the BLOODHOUND SSC, which means we get access to some industry events and information in exchange for some of our products.
It’s great to be able to stay updated on the progress of the BLOODHOUND SSC. A team of engineers are currently working on the car and there will be a slow “practice” run in 2015, where the car is hoped to travel at 800 MPH. In 2016, BLOODHOUND will undergo a world-record attempt and is hoped to travel at 1000 MPH – a speed that will also beat the record for top speed at low altitude.
We had the opportunity to visit the workshop and find out about the process that the car is currently going through. We met with Edward Fletcher – a BLOODHOUND engineer, Jamie Reed – rocket technician and Kim Watts – sponsor liaison.
The guys at BLOODHOUND were kind enough to explain how they work on the car. We found out how our products are used in the testing and passivation of the vehicle.
BLOODHOUND use the deionised water supplied by ReAgent as it is a pure liquid so won’t corrode any parts of the engine in the way regular fuel would. The team also use our hydrogen peroxide for testing purposes, to make sure the car won’t get damaged when it’s running.
This video shows ReAgent’s MD, Rich Hudson, speaking with Kim Watts. Kim explains the extent of the preparation involved in such a huge project and talks us through the technicalities of the vehicle. She also explains how Andy Green, the BLOODHOUND driver, is building up his speed each day to make sure the car is on track for breaking the record.
This is a great project for ReAgent to be involved with and we’d like you to stay updated on all our exciting ventures. You can follow our social media channels to stay in touch with ReAgent.
