Client Background
Speedcrete started 50 years ago, and supplies the concrete industry with finishing tools and other products for laying concrete, including the Bunyan Striker Rollerscreed in 1989, which changed the way contractors levelled fresh concrete.
With depots in Salisbury, Norfolk, Staffordshire, and Glasgow, they now supply a wide range of products, from power trowels and vibratory screeds to curing sprayers and bespoke solutions. Their commitment to quality and innovation has made them a trusted partner for concrete professionals across the UK.
We spoke to Ian Holland, Marketing Manager at Speedcrete, who explains how ReAgent helped them transform their operations post-Brexit and become the go-to supplier of concrete chemicals in the UK.
Business Objectives
When Speedcrete first approached ReAgent, their challenge was due to the fact that legislation had changed following the UK’s departure from the EU.
It was becoming very expensive for them to source products from the construction chemical industry in Europe as they had previously done, and they needed to find a solution within the UK.
Speedcrete had been searching for a solution to this challenge for around 18 months, exploring multiple options to maintain supply continuity and operational efficiency. Their search had been complicated by changing regulations and the need for a supplier who could provide both reliability and technical support.
It had become critical to solve their issue because of increasing competition within the UK and the fact that many of their competitors were larger than them.
Why Speedcrete Chose ReAgent
Speedcrete were looking at a number of alternative chemical suppliers, but the differentiating factor when they talked to ReAgent was our customer service.
“The big factor was the rep, John Rankin, he’s been excellent helping us. We like the personal relationship that we built with John Rankin right from the start. To have that kind of personal relationship with somebody is fantastic for us because he just gives us complete confidence in what you guys can do. And that’s all we needed really – good product and good communication,” said Ian Holland.
It was ultimately this, alongside ReAgent’s range of services, including personalised account management, in-depth industry expertise, and seamless logistics capabilities, that provided the answer they had been seeking.
The Results
As Speedcrete’s UK-based contract chemical manufacturer and supplier, ReAgent ensures that Speedcrete has the high-quality products they need when they need them, and that their customers are happy.
“We’ve been able to keep our foot in that door with all the people using these products for the concrete industry. Using ReAgent to make our products, we have seen stability in our company and we’ve now become a go-to for these products,” said Ian Holland.
With all this said, Ian had nothing but praise for ReAgent’s work and how our proactive support, technical guidance, and reliable supply chain management had helped the company strengthen its position and grow as a competitive force in the UK market.
“I’d definitely recommend ReAgent. My advice to other companies that have got similar challenges to ourselves would be to get in contact with ReAgent basically, because you guys have been fantastic,” said Ian Holland.
